The John Muir Trail

The John Muir Trail (JMT) is a quintessential American backpacking experience, and one of my favorite trails. The landscape is breathtaking, but it is the weather in the Sierra Nevada that distinguishes this trail from all others: its weather is awesome and it’s mostly sunny. I thru hiked the trail from North to South, beginning early on July 27th, 2008 and ending at noon on August 11th, 2008. It took roughly 15 days (with one zero day at VVR). I would highly recommend the book The John Muir Trail: The Essential Guide to Hiking America's Most Famous Trail. It was very helpful during my planning process.
